Q How do you know Atoms are Real? Atoms are very small. The first images of atoms were developed in 1970. Since then we have developed better and better techniques to image atoms and small molecules. Imaging atoms still is a very expensive and difficult task. Imagine you are a curmudgeon and a science skeptic. You can't stand the discussion of this thing called the "atom." Use your imagination and come up with three (3) arguments that try to disprove atomic theory. Then, respond to at least two other student's posts to try and convince them that atoms do indeed exist. Have fun!

Atoms don't exist because we can't see them with our own eyes. We are supposed to believe that these little things are what build up everything around us. However, the fact that we can't see them with the human eye and need a very powerful microscope to see them. I know what is real around me because I can see it and register that it is there. Have you ever felt or touched an individual atom? I haven't, and I don't think you have either. Atoms are supposedly flying all around us crashing into everything. However, if that was the case then we should at least feel something on our skin, but we don't. We can feel the smallest prick by a needle but not these atoms.
